    The scene that really stuck out to me is when Henry Fonda had no response to the guy that said to him " I'm not one for supposing but I'll give it a try ...Suppose you talk us all out of this and the Kid really is Guilty "

    You've definitely seen EG Marshall and Jack Warden in more recent movies. EG Marshall played Clark's father-in-law in Christmas Vacation ("I need to eat, so i can take my back pills!"), and Jack Warden continued working up through the 2000s, usually in supporting roles (While You Were Sleeping, The Replacements, Dirty Work and Norm, most notably).

    2:33 -- RE: "Unoccupied France welcomes you to Casablanca."; 2 significant Fun Facts from this moment of film history. First, the French Captain of Police is being played by Claude Rains. Look him and his filmography up! Second, "Casablanca" is one of the weirdest cases of smash hit in film history, particularly because of when it was released and its use for propaganda purposes which were purely morale related. With that being said, Operation Torch did indeed begin with the Allied invasion of North Africa. And a third Footnote to the second; this is the second major Hollywood film about French North Africa as a region, but the first was a reboot of an actual French film which had garnered worldwide attention first. The OG film is called "Pepe Le Moko" and the reboot is named for the city where the film is set, "Algiers" (1938). Both have femme fatales and expressive anti-hero yet sacrificial leading men. "Casablanca" though turned it up many notches because War Measures.

    • @jamespfp
      @jamespfp 50 хвилин тому

      ^^ OH RIGHT! And a footnote for the First, too. See also "Moontide" (1942) which stars the OG French leading man from "Pepe Le Moko" and Claude Rains in an important supporting role, as "Nutsy".

    Ames, you are so invested in the story. It really moves me. You've seen Band of Brothers, which is almost the story of a typical unit in the ETO. The Airborne divisions got pulled back to England after they wrapped up the Normandy invasion, and they were pulled to rest areas after Holland. From the Bulge on, they just stayed in combat. Most US Army divisions got committed to combat and just stayed in battle. The divisions that landed on the beach at Normandy were constantly on the line for some 330 days solid. Day after day, week after week, grinding the men down. The Marines, in the Pacific got a "rest" (if you can call places like Pavuvu restfull) between battles. But each battle they were committed to was utterly savage and brutal. The enemies they fought neither sought nor gave quarter. Very few Japanese were captured, and they were basically all wounded and incapacitated first. Stories I got from veterans of the fighting in the Pacific Theater are even more horrific than the images in this miniseries. Thank you for choosing to react to this series, and thank you for your thoughtful, heartfelt responses.

    It's a great movie. It's true that it doesn't fit 100% to the story, but even omitting details it's very good.

  • @ard8785

    This movie deserves an Oscars! This is a cinematic masterpiece, not only because of the aesthetics, art, photography, make-up or script, but because the story is real and truthful as possible.... And may I ask: why no focus on one of THE REAL HERO of the story - SERGIO CATALAN ? As @fantasia13 pointed out, " the man that found them was Sergio Catalan, a Chilean muleteer. (And this is Sergio Catalan's story). He was moving his animals through the mountain and happened to come across them. He said that at first he thought they were tourists. However, the more he looked at them he realized how poor their condition was. (But) because of the stream he couldn't hear them. So he had to go and get a piece of paper and a pen so the boys could communicate with him. Once he got their message he rode on his horse 10 hours to the closest police station. He said it took him what was left of the day and the whole night to get there and you were right in your reaction. When he arrived they didn't believe him. They thought he was drunk and making it up. However, since he refused to budge and he had the letter they decided to go ahead with the rescue... After they were rescued the survivors developed a really close relationship with him. Some of them said he was like a father to them. When he got sick and needed hip replacement surgery, the boys paid for his medical bills and Roberto helped him get treatment quickly since he was now a doctor. Sergio passed away in 2020 and Gustavo Zerbino attended his funeral in representation of the survivors. He carried his coffin and gave a speech to say goodbye to him. " There should be a PART II of the Society of the Snow, with the story focusing on SERGIO CATALAN... People may disagree with me, but for me, Sergio Catalan is NOW a member of the Society of Snow - and ONE OF THE HEROES... So, I repeat, there should be a Part II...

    The sad thing is that we are so close to living this nightmare again. Just watch the news. The anti-jewish rhetoric that has infiltrated the colleges and other institutions are proof that humans are indeed doomed to repeat the past because we can't be bothered to truly learn from our mistakes.

    I'm still crying , this was more than just a story , and I said I had nothing to say but there's soo much to be said and I don't know what else to say , I just don't know, Why are we humans what we are, how can we be Soo intelligent and yet not have the common decency to be human, we seem to not be able to even live up to the very name we gave ourselves . All this being said, it is one glimmer of hope , that just one, just one person can bring true humanity into this world in the face of such evil created by humanity .

  • @clayschuetz899

    I cried with you 😢 I've nothing to say but that this was one of the hardest films to watch that I ever have, I've still tears just thinking of it , how could humans do what they did 😢 This must never happen again and that's why stories like this are more than just simple entertainment, they are lessons that should not ever be forgotten, the horrors of old should always be told , that we should remember them and for the sake of pure humanity, never repeat them .

    I'm confused, you needed a couple days to process it but you predicted the next 20 seconds of the movie at every pivotal moment inside your review. For example when you said that Harry was going to throw the Elder one off the bridge. You predicted the resurrection Stone. You predicted that Severus was a good guy the whole time. I find it hard that you have not seen this before. Predicted every Romance, honestly I can keep going but I think I've spoken my point and I started watching at the Half Blood Prince.... and I skipped Deathly Hallows part 1 so I only watched two of your videos and you predicted both of them correctly, every time except you didn't predict that Severus was the Half-Blood Prince. The only other things you didn't predict was deaths. I'm not saying you're not honest or anything don't give me wrong it's just how it comes across, other than that great review

Another thing that both sides had in common: Those with the power to end this madness never set foot on or anywhere near a battlefield.

    I had a calculus professor in college who also plays the keyboard for a prog rock band and he was a good professor and his band's music is amazing. That dude found a way to teach and keep his musician dreams alive so it's possible. Honestly, this movie is basically Jack Black telling kids that it's okay to be themselves and I love it! Fun fact: they had to do a lot of extra takes on this movie because Jack kept making the child actors crack up on set by being himself
